How we test, write, and stay honest

JimDrive exists to give you car advice you can act on without second-guessing the motive behind it. Here's exactly how we work.

Independent · hands-on tested · never sponsored Our affiliate disclosure
    Our testing protocol

    Every pick earns its place

Before a product appears in a roundup or a fix appears in a guide, it goes through these steps.

    1. 01

      Hands-on use

An ASE-certified tech or motoring writer uses the product on a real vehicle, repair, or drive.

    2. 02

      Measured against rivals

We compare it to the obvious alternatives on price, durability, fit, and real-world performance.

    3. 03

      Single best pick

We name the one we'd actually buy or do, not a padded list. If none is worth it, we say so.

    4. 04

      Reviewed and dated

Guides carry a review date and are re-checked as models, parts, and prices change.

    Our editorial policy

    Who writes our content

Every repair and maintenance guide is written or fact-checked by an ASE-certified technician. Driving and safety content is written by a qualified advanced driving instructor. Reviews are led by a working motoring writer. Bylines link to a full author profile with credentials.

    Independence and conflicts of interest

We are funded by affiliate commissions, not by brands paying for coverage. No advertiser, manufacturer, or affiliate partner sees a review before publication or influences a ranking. We accept loaned or sample products for testing but return or disclose them, and accepting a sample never guarantees - or improves - a recommendation.

    How we use AI

We may use AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and editing, but every published guide is reviewed, edited, and approved by a named human expert who is accountable for its accuracy. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated content, and testing observations always come from a real person.

    Sourcing and accuracy

We cite manufacturer specifications, service data, and primary sources where relevant, and prefer first-hand testing over second-hand claims. Repair procedures are written to complement - not replace - your vehicle's service manual and manufacturer safety guidance.

    Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and note material corrections. Email [email protected] with the URL and the issue and we'll review it promptly.

    Funding

When you buy through some of our links we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That revenue funds our testing and keeps the site free to read. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full statement.
